This spicy wee number is our take on the red snapper. It’s a classic bloody mary recipe made with beet juice instead of tomato and Reid + Reid gin instead of vodka. Flight or no flight, the Beetroot Red Snapper is a guaranteed good time. Suitable day, night, 11am Sunday… whenevs.
In the Waipara Valley in Canterbury, 30 minutes north of Christchurch, resides one of New Zealand’s greatest treasures - Pegasus Bay Winery and Restaurant. Since 1986, this viticultural institution has managed to remain 100% owned and operated by the legendary Donaldson family.
This season’s living legend is the one, and only, Ben Lenart. Founding chief and apple counter at Almighty Beverages. We don’t let the accountants do the squeezing, however, Ben tends to wear a multitude of hats (and a signature grin) much of the time. This cool, calm and collected character began his entrepreneurial journey in his early 20’s when he opened Wellington institution, Milk Crate cafe, in 2005.
A fabulous time was had by all at this year’s Ending HIV Big Gay Out in Auckland. The legendary annual event is Aotearoa’s biggest celebration of rainbow diversity and aims to end new HIV transmissions in New Zealand by 2025 via regular testing, new tools and encouraging people to Love Your Condom.

Tess and Almighty squad member, Lewis, have been having a hoot of a time hanging out with the kids at Papatoetoe West School in Auckland every Friday. Thanks to Ms Best and the Garden to Table programme, the kids grow all sorts of delicious stuff from broad beans to blueberries, kale to cabbages and everything in between.
